Shop Talk Recap

With our mission to become the  pre-eminent authority on the business of fashion and design, the Fashion Group International of Houston are always excited to present great programs such as Shop Talk to our members.  The event was held at Tout Suite Cafe.  The panelists included Stash Co. owner Cheryl Schulke, Do or Dye Texas salon owner Brandi Lisenbe, Settlement Goods & Designowner Jenny Morgan, Langford Market brand director Davina Tweedy, and Melodrama boutique owner Jackie Adams. Last but certainly not least, the panel was moderated by frequent Houstoniacontributor Sarah Gabbart.  Each panelists shared their inspiring personal stories of how they developed their idea into a business. The panelist discussed advice on social media, local manufacturing, branding and the many challenges of owning a business.

Special Thanks to blogger Heather Petrey for covering this event! Check out her post below :

Here are just a few words of encouragement from our panelist:

''Budget out operating expenses a year in advance.''

“It’s not always about ‘sell, sell, sell;’ but also enriching your customer.”

''Create your own experience when you own a business.''

“Don’t push the river.” If it doesn’t feel right or if you are pushing/working too hard, it’s probably best to rethink your business.
